We’re now in the final few days before Hordes X kicks off, and we only have a few bands left to interview. The first of the last three is Evil Blood, a classic thrash outfit, founded way back in the 80s. Bat Connan tells us what’s changed since then.
BC: Yeah, we’re oldest band on the bill, and one of the oldest thrash bands in the world. There was no internet back then in eighties, and times were much simpler. On the other hand, bands where pretty much the same as today in underground scenes, playing and joining in with fans. And then, when, back then, a new record was out, we’d rush into the shop to get it. It was like a ritual putting it on record player or wait for your bands name appears in news paper or metal magazine.
What about Evil Blood themselves? How would he say they have been affected by the ravages of time?
BC: I wouldn’t! Everything is pretty much the same, and that’s the way we like it, you know?
You can be the judge of this yourselves, however, as they recently uploaded all of the albums for sale, digitally.
BC: Album download; it’s been great. Especially the new album, Bat Out Of Goathell. Fans worldwide (have been) telling me this is the best Evil Blood album ever, and feedback I am getting has been really positive.
The best option is to buy it, though, as contention over the name seems to have resulted in a dearth of accessibility to their music online.
BC: When you play long as I (have), you would come across some strange people. I had at least half a dozen stalkers, people obsessed with me and my band, saying all sorts of things. I don’t pay much attention to that. I guess i consider that free advertising!
Alternatively, you could always get down to a show and see them lay down the thrash, live! Hint, hint…
BC: We’re planning to play our deadliest live set, ever, and Evil Blood is honoured to play with such great bands, and we would like to thank to organizers of Hordes X for inviting Evil Blood to be part of this mayhem! We have few (more) gigs coming up. Watch out on our Facebook page for info. And for people who wanna know more about our music, you can get all albums via Darkness Records, through my email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and PayPal.
