Dragon Fire: Lifesick – Love and Other Lies EP plus Reverse Birth video

Danish hardcore/metal gang deliver a gnarly slab with their new EP, Love And Other Lies.

It almost snuck under our radar, but today (12||01||24) Lifesick unleashed their new short player. And it’s a bit of a beast! Also today, they dropped a video for “Reverse Birth,” featuring Todd Jones from the (let’s say ‘controversial’) Nails. Arguably more accessible, than that band, Lifesick still stomp pretty hard, and in a parallel direction. The full EP is out now on Metal Blade, so fire into the link further down the page if you fancy getting your ears ripped off. Witness exhibit A…

Elaborates vocalist/lyricist Simon Shoshan (aka Simon Sorrow), “This is from personal experience. I have a lot of ADHD and from time to time, I deal with stress, depression, and anxiety. I went to a psychiatrist to get help and the first ’doctor‘ I spoke with gave me the feeling that I just wasn‘t trying enough and that I just felt too bad for myself. So that gave me the best mindset to write these lyrics and I think they speak for themselves.

From the Metal Blade press release:

Formed in Fredericia, Denmark in 2015, LIFESICK creates brutal and brutally honest songs with lyrics inspired by the turbulent nature of life. Musically influenced by Swedish death metal, LIFESICK‘s authentic and explosive mixture of crushing tones and modern breakdowns create an uncompromising sound and vision.

Love And Other Lies serves as the followup to the band‘s critically acclaimed, 2022-issued Misanthropy LP, a record the press praised as an “an absolute barnburner, practically overflowing with buzzsaw riffs, blistering blast beats, bludgeoning breakdowns and brutish, barking vocals (No Clean Singing).” The three new tracks – “Every Unpleasant Emotion,” “Rude Awakening” (feat. Mark Whelan of Fuming Mouthand), “Reverse Birth” (feat. Todd Jones of Nails) – were produced by Jacob Bredahl at Dead Rat Studio in Aarhus, mixed by Jacob Bredahl, mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, and seamlessly further Misanthropy‘s intensity.
